Transport in Cells 12:45

Which process moves oxygen from the alveoli into the blood, down a concentration gradient?

AActive transport
BOsmosis
CDiffusion
DFiltration

Correct: C — Diffusion. Net movement from a higher to a lower concentration, and it needs no energy from respiration.

Textbook

A full textbook for every topic, written to the spec.

Clear, exam-focused notes with key terms, worked examples and diagrams — so revision and practice live in the same place.

Diffusion

What is diffusion?

Diffusion is the net movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration, down a concentration gradient. It is a passive process, so it does not need energy from respiration.

Key term — Concentration gradientThe difference in concentration between two regions. The steeper the gradient, the faster the rate of diffusion.
Statistics & heatmaps

See exactly where you stand — and what to revise next.

Every answer feeds a live picture of progress: accuracy by topic, performance over time, and a streak heatmap that keeps revision consistent.

  • Accuracy by topicA traffic-light breakdown of every topic, so weak spots are obvious at a glance.
  • Performance over timeTrack attempted, correct and incorrect week on week to see real improvement.
  • Activity heatmap & streaksA daily heatmap and streak counter that turn revision into a habit.

Our story

Why I built 9science

Hi, I'm Dr Binu Wickremasinghe. I built 9science after seeing how hard it is for students to find science practice that actually matches their exam board — and explains the reasoning behind every answer, not just whether they got the mark.

The idea was simple: bring everything into one place. Thousands of exam-style questions, timed mock papers, curriculum-aligned textbooks and clear progress tracking — so every student can revise with a plan, and always know what to work on next.
